KidloLand App Review

**The folks at KidloLand gave me a free subscription in return for an honest review.

I am giving this app a solid THUMBS UP. I LOVE IT. I know all of you other parents out there are looking for reviews on products that you can actually trust. And parent to parent, I’m telling you this one actually rocks.

Let me begin by saying that I rarely let my kids play on the iPad. I try to keep their screen time at a minimum. Plus, most apps are confusing for them and have advertising hidden all around. I don’t want to hand my device to the three-year-old if he’s going to be prompted to buy something (because he will).

To be honest, I was a little skeptical of letting my kids play on an app at all. My experiences thus far have not been great. But KidloLand actually changed my mind. Here’s why:

  1. My five-year-old and three-year-old can play this app TOGETHER. This app isn’t styled for player 1/player 2, but it is set up so that more than one kid can play at a time. For example, my children loved making a puzzle (taking turns putting the pieces together) and then feeding it to a monster. They were engaged not only in the game but also with each other. They laughed, talked, and helped one another which made me feel a lot less guilty for giving them screen time.
  2. There are no ads. ‘Nough said.
  3. There are stories that can either be read to the viewer by the app, or the child can read it themselves. My five-year-old who is learning to read loves to follow along with the words. It was also nice for me to listen to the story while the kids sat at the kitchen table and I made dinner.
  4. They have classic nursery rhymes. I love exposing my kids to things that I grew up with and this is one of them.
  5. Age appropriate activities are available within the app, so that different aged children will be challenged in one place.
  6. Everything within the app is positive–there is nothing that I wouldn’t let my kids play. So instead of picking and choosing, I let them explore without me. They click, listen, laugh, play and learn.

I would highly recommend this app to friends, family, and readers who are looking for something to entertain but also teach their children.

NOTE: The app itself is free but it does cost money to open certain areas.
