I Couldn’t Love You More

When we first rode on your motorcycle,

My heart racing in my core,

The thought graved into my mind:

I couldn’t love you more.

When we watched “Lost”, three seasons straight

Lying on the floor,

I looked at you and thought to myself:

I couldn’t love you more.

When we got our first apartment,

A little cottage by the shore,

I watched you sleep beneath our sheets:

I couldn’t love you more.

On our wedding day as I descended,

Towards the one I most adore,

I whispered joyously, beneath my veil:

I couldn’t love you more.

When our first babe, a little girl,

In your arms first snored,

I promised myself, that this time,

I couldn’t love you more.

When our second child, a little boy,

Would make his tiny roar,

I’d watch you cuddle and exhausted mumbled:

I couldn’t love you more.

But days keep passing quickly

And it seems like just before,

I look at you and can’t believe

I could ever love you more.

Just imagine us in fifty years

When you’re old an quite a bore,

When our kids have all gone on their own

And our joints will ache and sore.

When our rocking chairs creak and groan

And we spy on those next door,

I’ll hold your hand and firmly state:

I couldn’t love you more.
