Donald Trump is a Sociopath, as Diagnosed by…Donald Trump

He started as a reality star joke. Everyone laughed. Trump for President? At least he’s mixing everything up! they said. And slowly, with extreme calculation, he became official Republican Nominee for President.

But there is more to him than the orange sheen and fluffy comb over. There is more to him than grandiose plans and crowd pleasing.

There is darkness there.

And while I could write up a convincing (and probably biased) review of why I think that he does, indeed, have an antisocial personality disorder, who can say it better than the man himself?

Below are eight signs of a sociopath, accompanied by actual Donald Trump quotes. If you trust Trump, if you think he speaks honesty and truth, than listen to his words and let him convince you. And decide if this man is someone worth YOUR vote. Really think about the implications this man will have on policy, domestic and foreign. That the anger and hate he brings out in people will be amplified, a billion fold. That this spray tanned, comic villain, windpipe of manipulation will represent the American people.

  1. Having an oversized ego.
  • “I’m intelligent. Some people would say I’m very, very, very intelligent.” (“Fortune”, April 3, 2000)
  • “Sorry losers and haters, but my I.Q. is one of the highest — and you all know it!” (Twitter, May 8, 2013)
  • “… of course, it’s very hard for them to attack me on looks, because I’m so good looking.”(NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Aug. 9, 2015)
  • “When I think I’m right, nothing bothers me.”(“60 Minutes“, 1985)
  • “Part of the beauty of me is that I am very rich.”(“Good Morning America“, 2011)

  • “Sorry losers and haters, but my I.Q. is one of the highest -and you all know it! Please don’t feel so stupid or insecure, it’s not your fault”— (Twitter, 2016)
  • “I’m speaking with myself, No. 1, because I have a very good brain and I’ve said a lot of things. … My primary consultant is myself.” (“MSNBC”, March 16, 2016)
  • “Hey, look, I went to the hardest school to get into, the best school in the world, I guess you could say, the Wharton School of Finance. It’s like super genius stuff. I came out. I built a tremendous company. I had tremendous success. The Art of the DealThe Apprentice. Everything.” (“CNN”, August 11, 2015)
  1. Lying and exhibiting manipulative behavior.
  • A) “If I ever ran for office, I’d do better as a Democrat than as a Republican—and that’s not because I’d be more liberal, because I’m conservative.” (“Playboy”, March 1990)

B) “I’m a registered Republican. I’m a pretty conservative guy. I’m somewhat liberal on          social issues, especially health care.” (“CNN”, October 8, 1999)

  1. Exhibiting a lack of empathy, remorse or shame.
  • “Pocahontas wanted V.P. slot so badly but wasn’t chosen because she has done nothing in the Senate. Also, Crooked Hillary hates her!” (Twitter, 2016)
  • “I would never buy Ivana any decent jewels or pictures. Why give her negotiable assets?” (“Vanity Fair”, September 1990)
  • “I’ve never had any trouble in bed, but if I’d had affairs with half the starlets and female athletes the newspapers linked me with, I’d have no time to breathe.”(“Trump: Surviving at the Top”)

  1. Behaving irresponsibly or with extreme impulsivity.

·         “When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.” (Campaign Launch, 2015)

  • “You have to treat ’em like shit.” (On women; “New York magazine”, Nov. 9, 1992)
  • “I do love provoking people.” (BuzzFeed, Feb. 13, 2014)

 5 . Having few friends.

  • “Jeb Bush has to like the Mexican Illegals because of his wife.”(Retweeted and then deleted on Twitter, July 4, 2015)
  • “Justice Ginsburg of the U.S. Supreme Court has embarrassed all by making very dumb political statements about me. Her mind is shot – resign!” (Twitter, 2016)

 6. Being charming—but only superficially.

  • “I have a great relationship with the blacks. I’ve always had a great relationship with the blacks.” (“Albany’s Talk 1300”, April 14, 2011)
  • “I’m speaking with myself, No. 1, because I have a very good brain and I’ve said a lot of things. … My primary consultant is myself.” (“MSNBC”, March 16, 2016)
  • “If I ever ran for office, I’d do better as a Democrat than as a Republican–and that’s not because I’d be more liberal, because I’m conservative. But the working guy would elect me. He likes me. When I walk down the street, those cabbies start yelling out their windows.” (“Playboy“, 1990)

 7. Showing disregard for societal norms.

  • “All of the women on The Apprentice flirted with me – consciously or unconsciously. That’s to be expected.” (“How To Get Rich”, 2004)
