Fall

I love fall.

It is probably my favorite time of year. We don’t get to see much of the stereotypical fall things, but we’re close enough to different climates that without venturing far we experience the sensation of leaves changing, and the taste of warm apple pie on a cold afternoon.

It doesn’t rain often in SoCal. You can see people emerge from buildings, their heads tilting towards the sky while they mumble things like, “Is that really rain?”

So when water falls from the sky, the family takes full advantage. Having grown up with full seasons in Northern California, it feels comforting to hear the splash of rain on the patio and see the sparks of delight on little faces as they twirl amidst it.

The kids squeal with delight and hightail it outside like they’ve never seen weather before.

Every.

Single.

Year.
